Arlon Inc. gab die Verfügbarkeit von CLTE-AT, dem neuesten Zugang zur CLTE-Produktreihe bekannt. CLTE-AT repräsentiert Arlons kommerzielles Angebot unter Einsatz bekannter Technologien, die für Hochleistungs-CLTE-XT entwickelt, jedoch modifiziert wurden, um die Produkte für kommerzielle Anwendungen kostengünstiger zu machen. Um diese kostengünstige Basis aufrecht zu erhalten, bietet CLTE-AT weniger Optionen für Kupfersorten und Plattengrößen an.

CLTE-AT ist ein mikroskopisch verteiltes Keramik-PTFE-Komposit, welches eine sehr fein verstrickte Glasfaserverstärkung benutzt, um eine höchstmögliche dimensionale Stabilität und Registrierungskonsistenz zu erreichen, insbesondere, wenn dünne Platten wie 0.005” und 0.010” eingesetzt werden. CLTE-AT hat einen Insertionsverlust (S21) und eine Verlusttangente (0.0013) im kommerziellen Markt, die die besten dieser Klasse sind. Um die Leistung in Hochfrequenzanwendungen weiter zu verbessern, verwendet CLTE-AT glattere Kupfersorten mit einer durchschnittlichen Oberflächenrauheit (Rz) von weniger oder gleich 4.0µm, im Vergleich zu vielen Konkurrenzangeboten, die rauheres, 9-10 µm, Kupfer verwenden. Hierdurch wird der Insertionsverlust und der Übertragungswiderstand reduziert, während immer noch die notwendige Oberflächenstärke beibehalten wird, die für dünne Spuren auf dünnen Platinen notwendig ist. Für neuere kommerzielle Millimeterwellenanwendungen bedeutet dies eine beachtliche Leistungsverbesserung gegenüber bestehenden Technologien, da hauchdünne Verluste bei höheren Frequenzen signifikant werden.

CLTE-AT weist eine geringe CTExyz (Wärmeausdehnung) und extrem geringe TCEr (di-elektrische Konstantenänderung mit steigenden Temperaturen) auf. Das TCEr mit niedrigen Negativwerten und das niedrig positive CTExy heben sich fast gegenseitig auf, und erreichen so sehr stabile Phasenlängen und Impedanzwerte, sogar bei großen Temperaturschwankungen. Die höhere Wärmeleitfähigkeit von CLTE-AT verbessert ebenfalls den Wärmeaustausch bei alternativen Materialien und ermöglicht ein besseres Strommanagement.

Anwendungen schließen temperatur- und verlustsensible Filteranwendungen ein, Radare zur Kollisionsvermeindung, anpassungsfähige Autopilotanwendungen, Multilayer-RF-PCBs, temperaturstabile Antennen und sonstige Mikrowellen- und RF-Anwendungen.
