EION Wireless launches Libra MAX at WiMAX World USA
WiMAX Platform Founded on Field-Proven Architecture

BOSTON, MA, Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- EION Wireless, a global provider of Broadband Wireless Access and Backhaul products, today announced the Libra MAX (TM) product family. The Libra MAX architecture, a versatile platform for WiMAX broadband wireless networks and for integrating EION's IP Intelligence, is an evolution of the field-proven Libra MX products purchased by EION from Wi-LAN Inc. in April 2006. Dual-mode operation, part of the Libra MAX architecture, means operators can roll-out industry standard 802.16-2004 WiMAX interoperable public networks as well as proprietary Turbo W-OFDM networks when service requirements dictate greater security and performance.

"As a Principal Member of the WiMAX Forum, EION Wireless is committed to providing standardized, interoperable Broadband Wireless products based on the 802.16 standards," said Kalai Kalaichelvan, CEO of EION Inc. "With the MAX-16 Sector Card and MAX Subscriber Stations, the Libra MAX architecture gives Libra MX customers a WiMAX solution. This equipment has demonstrated exception performance and reliability in large scale network deployments since 2004. It provides EION with a solid foundation to add intelligent network and service level capabilities for broadband wireless networks."

The Libra MAX product family includes a range of WiMAX class base station and subscriber station products with exceptional performance, scalability and coverage. Operating in the 3.3, 3.5 and 3.6 GHz bands, Libra MAX base stations are available in three form factors and provide hot-swappable cards, full card and power redundancy. The product family also includes a variety of subscriber stations designed to meet customer needs and run network applications such as VoIP, VPNs, Internet Access and others. The architecture is based on the WiMAX Forum Certified(TM) mini-PCI reference design from Wavesat Inc.

EION Wireless is launching Libra MAX at the WiMAX World USA show in Boston today with a live demonstration of video, voice and data traffic, highlighting the Libra MAX performance by streaming multiple DVD quality video streams from the Libra MAX base station out to subscriber stations. The demonstration, in Booth 503, will also feature Dual Mode capability with the MAX-Turbo Sector Card and the new MAX-16 WiMAX Sector Card.

The Libra MAX platform, based on the Libra MX, is already operating in large-scale network deployments today in the Middle East, Africa and Russia. The new 3.5GHz MAX-16 WiMAX Sector Card, ODU and Subscriber Stations being launched at the show add industry standard 802.16-2004 WiMAX to a field proven platform.
