Druva Helps to Support AWS Outposts

Druva, Inc., the leader in Cloud Data Protection and Management, today announced that it has capabilities to support AWS Outposts, fully managed and configurable compute and storage racks built with AWS-designed hardware that allow customers to run compute and storage on-premises, while seamlessly connecting to AWS’s broad array of services in the cloud. Druva has tested AWS Outposts and will be able to deliver positive customer outcomes at scale through re-architecting complex workloads to run on AWS Outposts. Druva’s support for AWS Outposts improves the resiliency of both applications running on it or in traditional hybrid environments. Now, AWS and Druva customers can bring a true cloud data management experience close to the data center.

While enterprises are rapidly adopting cloud technologies, many still have a need to keep some applications on-premises due to proximity, governance, or strict recovery SLAs. However, enterprises continue to look for ways to extend the cloud’s benefits of scale, simplicity, and agility to these environments - as well as find common tools to manage data across all environments. Druva will leverage AWS Outposts to deliver some of the best of the cloud to on-premises, enabling infrastructure and data protection on a single stack, without added support or infrastructure. Druva brings centralized management and protection of AWS and on-premises workloads with a seamless control plane, bringing cloud-based data protection “as a Service” capabilities within the four walls of nearly any data center. Customers get all the benefits of a fully managed, cloud-native architecture with the localized performance they require.

Druva’s new capabilities are designed to allow customers to seize the full value of a hybrid cloud infrastructure to support the low latency, critical workloads using AWS Outposts while simultaneously utilizing the cloud for all other workloads. Specifically, customers can:

  • Use AWS Outposts and Druva to protect their on-premises critical workloads, experiencing LAN-like RTOs while benefiting from the full power and value of the cloud.
  • Add an additional layer of protection for workloads running on AWS Outposts, spinning up new cloud instances in the event of a catastrophic event, all from a unified platform.
  • Leverage Druva’s industry-defining capabilities and breadth of workload coverage enable AWS customers to further protect the data that matters most to their business, whether it be at the edge, on AWS Outposts, or in an AWS cloud environment.

“Customers want the best of both worlds - the ability to leverage all the benefits of cloud, while also continuing to keep business-critical data readily available on-site,” said Mike Palmer, chief product officer, Druva. “AWS Outposts is giving organizations the ability to unify all of their workloads within AWS environments, and similarly unify their data protection. Druva’s comprehensive offerings for endpoints, data centers, and cloud workloads, especially AWS environments, offers a singular platform where enterprises can easily and seamlessly manage data across the entire organization.”

Initially unveiled at AWS re:Invent 2018, AWS Outposts bring native AWS services, infrastructure, and operating models to virtually any data center, co-location space, or on-premises facility. Customers can use the same AWS APIs, tools, and infrastructure across on-premises and the cloud to deliver a truly consistent hybrid experience. AWS Outposts is designed for connected environments and can be used to support workloads that need to remain on-premises due to low latency or local data processing needs.

Availability

Druva expects the capabilities to be generally available in 2020.
