Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

New Guide Explains How To Select Pressure Regulators for Fluid Systems
Free publication illustrates the inner workings of pressure reducing regulators and their design limits

FREMONT, Calif., Feb. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Swagelok Northern California has released a new guide to help companies find the right pressure reducing regulator for their fluid systems. The free guide, titled "Selection & Sizing of Pressure Reducing Regulators" draws on the company's expertise as a Swagelok® sales and service center serving businesses in Northern California and northwestern Nevada.

"For some people who are used to working with valves, regulators can seem confounding at first.  There's a lot more to a regulator and the job that it performs, than people sometimes realize,," said  regulator specialist Jeff Hopkins.

As the guide notes, "size" doesn't refer to the size of the end connections. Rather, it refers to how much flow can pass through the regulator. As the name indicates, pressure regulators regulate only pressure, not flow.

The guide looks at the parts of a regulator and how they work together, and some of the problems that can  "creep" up when a regulator is put into conditions it was never intended to handle. The guide then explains the key element in sizing: the flow curve. These are graphs that show how each model of regulator is designed to perform under specific combinations of flow and pressure.

"With this guide to get you started, you'll be in a good position to select and size a pressure regulator," Hopkins said. "Or, get in touch. Our Swagelok Northern California representatives can fill in more details and help you find the answer to any questions about regulators."

The free guide is available for download at the Swagelok Northern California website.
