This appointment comes on the heels of the ongoing transformation Lumos Networks embarked upon since its inception in Nov 2011 when it spun off from nTelos. In her new position, Ms. Balani will report to Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer, Joseph E. McCourt, Jr.

As Vice President of Marketing, Ms. Balani will lead Lumos Networks’ marketing communications, public relations, and strategic marketing activities and also facilitate customer relationship management activities across the company further underpinning Lumos Networks’ customer-centric focus. In addition, it will enhance Lumos Networks’ position in industry discussions on key topics including cloud computing, data center connectivity & unified communications. I see marketing as the final frontier of Lumos Networks’ transformation to further unlock the underlying value of our incredible assets,” McCourt said.

Prior to joining Lumos Networks, Ms. Balani held senior leadership positions most recently at Zayo Group, framing Cloud Services Strategy across their global footprint and at AboveNet since 2006, leading product development across metro, long haul and IP networks helping establish it as a global market leader in high bandwidth connectivity & low latency solutions.
