I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

ZeptoLab's "Om Nom Stories" Wins iKids Award for Best Web/App Series
iKid's Honors Cut the Rope-Inspired Animation Series

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/08/13 -- At iKids' annual iKids Awards last week, ZeptoLab®, the creators of the hit game phenomenon Cut the Rope®, took home the award for Best Web/App Series for their animation series, "Om Nom Stories." Based on the star character of Cut the Rope, Om Nom®, the series brings the little green monster to life, following his adventures and his friendship with Evan, the little boy who adopts him.

"With 'Om Nom Stories' we wanted a way to bring Om Nom to life in new ways and show fans more about who he is and where he comes from," said Semyon Voinov, co-founder of ZeptoLab. "When we launched the series this past fall, we decided on a strategic distribution strategy that wouldn't rely on any one platform or partner, but would allow our fans to view the stories whenever and wherever they want; on mobile, within our games and online. This is a strategy we take with our games as well as we continue to expand to new platforms. Being honored by iKids is great validation for us."

During the month of October, "Om Nom Stories" was previewed in movie theaters across the country as part of an exclusive partnership with National CineMedia (NCM)'s FirstLook pre-show. Currently in the midst of its first season, the series has received more than 25 million views since its debut and has plans to continue the series into a second season.

ZeptoLab also continues to expand its brand through new entertainment opportunities, such as the partnership with Sony Pictures Television to produce a live-action game show based on Cut the Rope, which is currently in development.

ABOUT OM NOM STORIES
Who is Om Nom and what makes him tick? ZeptoLab's Cut the Rope inspired animation series "Om Nom Stories" brings Om Nom to life, following his playful adventures and escapades as he finds himself constantly getting in trouble, but still remaining as lovable as ever. The series starts when Om Nom is found by Evan, a young boy, who takes it upon himself to take care of Om Nom. Each episode focuses on a new adventure as Om Nom explores Evan's house and the world around him. As he searches for candy, interacts with household pets and even attempts to find the perfect outfit, each episode is a glimpse into Om Nom's personality, likes and dislikes, and his adventures outside of Cut the Rope. In just one season, the series already has over 25 million hits!
