Pivot Charter School North Valley Now Enrolling, Information Session Scheduled Feb. 20

Pivot Charter School, North Valley, a free public charter school with resource centers in Chico and Oroville, has scheduled a local information session to help interested students and parents learn more about the innovative hybrid learning program. The information session will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Pivot Charter School, 2550 Lakewest Drive, Suite 30, Chico. Pivot, which serves students, grades 6-12, in Butte and surrounding counties, is currently enrolling for the spring semester and the 2013-14 school year.

Pivot North Valley offers site-based and virtual educational options that tailor learning through an online curriculum that lets students learn at their own pace. Students in the site-based option attend school at either the Chico or Oroville resource centers two days a week and receive support from credentialed teachers on-site and online. Students who choose the virtual option complete their coursework from the comfort of their own homes, have online access to credentialed teachers who provide real-time instruction 24 hours a day Monday through Friday and can meet with teachers in person during drop-in hours at either facility if additional assistance is needed.

“At Pivot, our mission is to ensure that no child falls through the cracks, which is why we have created an individualized program tailored to each student’s unique learning style and educational needs,” said Jayna Gaskell, Pivot Charter Schools executive director. “We offer a safe, caring environment that includes comprehensive one-on-one student support through tutoring, small group classes and learning labs. Our school offers students around-the-clock technical and academic support, as well as a flexible class schedule that lets them proceed at their own pace.”

Pivot Charter School offers a standards-based curriculum, including more than 15 Advanced Placement courses, unique electives like music theory and graphic arts, credit recovery and early graduation options. Students can jump-start their college careers with dual enrollment in college courses. In addition to on-site teachers available during school hours, Pivot students have online access to California-credentialed teachers who can provide immediate assistance 24 hours a day during the school week.

Pivot Charter School is ideal for many students, including home-schooled students, those needing a flexible schedule due to work or outside activity or family obligations, students living in remote locations, advanced learners or students with health or physical challenges. Nationally recognized learning provider Advanced Academics supplies the program’s learning management system, web-based curriculum and online teaching staff.
