New High Power UV Big Chip LED(TM) Now Available From Luminus
Luminus' Renowned CBT-90 Platform Is Now Shipping in UV Wavelengths

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/06/13 -- Luminus Devices, Inc. announced today at SPIE's Photonics West trade show that production units of a new high-powered UV Big Chip LED™ in Luminus' popular CBT-90 form factor are now available for immediate delivery.

By providing a high-performance form factor at 405 nm, the CBT-90-UV LEDs will help accelerate the conversion to solid-state UV light sources in industrial markets. The CBT-90-UV LEDs contain a single monolithic 9mm2 die that emits directly into air. At 13.5A forward current, these LEDs produce a NIST-traceable power output ranging from 7 W to 9.1 W at 405 nm peak-wavelength, making them ideal for UV life science, machine vision and curing applications.

"The CBT-90-UV LED provides all of the traditional advantages of Luminus' Big Chip LED technology, including improved thermal power density and simpler support system architecture, along with delivering greater wall-plug efficiency than traditional sized LED dies and arrays," said Mike Lim, Director of Global Industrial and New Business at Luminus Devices. "Luminus engineers designed it to replace traditional UV mercury vapor lamps, and the CBT-90-UV's features provide new high power LED solutions that also deliver longer lifetimes, greater energy efficiency, the reduction of harmful emissions and the elimination of environmental disposal issues."

Luminus will be showing the new CBT-90-UV chip as well as the latest advances in LED chip technology for UV, white, RGB and RGBW LEDs at Photonics West in booth #4116. Visitors will get a chance to see demonstrations of a variety of Big Chip LEDs in unique applications, including 3D printing, medical endoscopy lighting, DLP projection, and portable tactical illumination.

Luminus' LEDs are available across the globe through Avnet, Digi-Key, EBV Elektronik, Marubun, and Mouser distribution partners. For more information, please visit www.luminus.com.
