WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 02/05/13 -- Dr. Thomas Clinch and Dr. Paul Kang, both prominent Washington DC LASIK surgeons, work to remain up-to-date on technology in their field. At Eye Doctors of Washington, they are now using Wavefront Optimized analysis to offer patients a greater range of LASIK procedures. This new technology allows Dr. Clinch and Dr. Kang to determine candidacy for Custom LASIK, an enhanced alternative to standard LASIK surgery. Custom LASIK procedures, made possible by Wavefront Optimized analysis, allow patients to experience results that exceed the benefits of standard LASIK. After Custom LASIK, patients will experience:
Wavefront Optimized analysis utilizes technology that can more accurately assess the eye's refractive errors. WaveScan, the instrument that performs Wavefront Optimized analysis, detects refractive abnormalities found within: tear film, anterior and posterior cornea, lens, vitreous and retina. Dr. Clinch says, "Because we are customizing the treatment to the individual needs of every patient, the outcomes of surgery are extremely predictable and tend to be outstanding." The Wavefront sensor measures a patient's unique refraction and is 25 times more sensitive than the standard refraction used for traditional LASIK consultations. By assessing every ray of light that enters the eye, the WaveScan determines what alterations in the visual system will produce the clearest image for each patient. Since the Wavefront technology precisely measures the complete refractive error of the entire eye, the system allows for a more precise diagnosis. Using this technology, Drs. Clinch and Kang can offer a more tailored treatment plan to Washington DC LASIK surgery patients. "The advanced technology allows us to treat patients at a much higher level than standard LASIK or glasses and contact lenses. These can result in better outcomes for our patients," Dr. Kang says.
