Orca Systems Announces DVB-T2 Front-End Reference Design for TVs With Panasonic Demodulator LSI

POWAY, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/04/13 -- Orca Systems, Inc. (www.orcasystems.com), a fabless RF semiconductor company based in Poway, Calif., today announced a complete DVB-T2/T/C and analog TV front-end reference design for televisions with Orca's ORC5310 hybrid TV tuner and Panasonic Corporation's MN88472 demodulator.

The ORC5310 is a single-chip, CMOS-based, hybrid TV tuner with analog demodulator that can receive both analog and digital signals from either terrestrial or cable networks, worldwide. Panasonic's MN88472 DVB-T2/T/C demodulator IC is a second-generation, low-power device optimized to meet the stringent DVB-T2 D-Book specification. The reference design achieves high sensitivity, good interference rejection and stable reception in multipath environments. The silicon tuner and demodulator can work with two standard voltage supplies, thus simplifying the system design and reducing cost.

"DVB-T2 is rapidly being deployed in many countries throughout Europe, Africa and Asia," said Guruswami Sridharan, CEO and founder of Orca Systems. "The turnkey reference design with Panasonic enables our customers to adopt a pre-qualified DVB-T2/analog front-end solution with minimal engineering investment and reduced time to market."

A complete set of design materials -- including schematics, layout gerbers, BoM list, and GUI evaluation software with integrated tuner and demodulator drivers -- is now available. The design was tested with the latest DVB-T2 specifications, including NORDIG and D-Book standards. For more information please contact sales@orcasystems.com.
