Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Moovweb Challenges Front-End Web Developers to Take TV Web Browsing to the Next Level at TV Hackfest

Moovweb is challenging web developers and designers to show off how they would redesign their favorite websites for the so-called “10-foot user interface” at the free San Francisco TV Hackfest. The Moovweb experience platform SDK -- which is free to developers and encourages experimentation on new channels -- is being used at the hack-a-thon to drive innovation in the delivery of amazing websites and apps for consumption via TV screens.

“TV Web design is where design for the mobile Web was few short years ago,” said Ishan Anand, director of new products at Moovweb. “It’s a green field opportunity for front-end developers and designers looking to explore a new canvas, help define the state of the art, and push the Web forward. Web innovation continues to evolve beyond mobile and tablets, and our platform provides a future-proof way of varying screen sizes and multiple touch points, such as kiosks and TVs.”

Moovweb is the world’s first experience platform, empowering developers with a whole new approach to front-end Web development, making it faster and easier than ever to deliver amazing post-PC era sites and hybrid apps. The company's platform lets developers and designers transform and redesign any desktop website for mobile, tablet, television, or any touch point without the need for APIs or backend integration. Developers use a Web console to configure and monitor projects, collaborate with each other, learn about the platform and get support. The free Developer Edition includes access to the SDK and management console -- everything developers need to design and build compelling post-PC era sites and apps.

Moovweb uses a patent-pending technique called site virtualization that enables a mobile – or TV-based – site or app to instantly inherit 100 percent of the content, features and business logic of a desktop site. Moovweb’s SDK empowers a front-end developer or designer to focus solely on building incredible mobile and TV experiences, without worrying about back-end code.

Moovweb is an official sponsor of the TV Hackfest. The TV Hackfest will be held Feb 7-8, at Moscone Center West in San Francisco as part of the Apps World North America Conference.
