OtterBox® has been named an International CES Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree® for the new Armor Series® and Defender Series® with iON Intelligence® cases. The Armor Series, honoree for the handset accessory category, is the toughest case ever built providing protection in the roughest of environments. Its extraordinary design is waterproof, drop proof, dust proof and crush proof yet still allows for full device functionality. The Armor Series is a patented watertight case that allows full interactivity, while protecting the device. Metal latches, o-ring seal, port covers and mesh coverings keep water out and allow the Armor Series to tolerate submersions for 30 minutes in up to 6.6 ft. of water. Vents and port covers are made of a non-permeable membrane and protective mesh layer that allows sound to move through while keeping harmful elements out. The case features advanced materials that protect the device from 10 ft. drops. The high-strength reinforced plastic of the Armor Series can withstand up to two tons of force. Soft interior foam provides a cushioned, custom fit for the device. The built-in screen protector guards against scratches and damage to the glass display. Assembly is simple with corrosion-resistant metal latches that lock the two halves of the case together. Port covers open easily for quick access to charging and headphone use without removing the case. The OtterBox Armor Series provides all around protection while maintaining full-device functionality.

The Defender Series with iON Intelligence, honoree for the portable power category, allows users to stay connected even longer with its trifecta of power, protection and app-enabled management. OtterBox engineers packed the well-known Defender Series with microelectronics that charge up to three-times faster than any other of its kind, allowing users to leave the phone charger behind and quickly double battery life. For OtterBox, robust protection is always a part of design. This state-of-the-art product offers three-layer protection in addition to smart and seamless power. The first layer is a built-in screen protector that guards against scratches without inhibiting touch sensitivity; the second is a sturdy polycarbonate shell that securely snaps in place around the device and the third, outer layer, is a robust silicone skin, complete with port and plug covers that keep out dust and dirt.

The Innovations Design and Engineering Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association® (CEA), the producer of the International CES, the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.

Innovations award entries are judged based on the following criteria:

  • Engineering qualities, based on technical specs and materials used
  • Aesthetic and design qualities, using photos provided
  • The product’s intended use/function and user value
  • Unique/novel features that consumers find attractive
  • Innovation and design comparisons to other products on the market

Products chosen as Innovations honorees display the upmost qualities of innovative design and engineering. Learn more about the new OtterBox Armor Series or Defender Series with iON Intelligence by visiting here: www.otterbox.com/armor-series or www.otterbox.com/defender-series-ion.

“Vote early and vote often.” Back in the 1920s and ’30s, when neither election technology nor oversight were as effective as they are today, and the likes of Al Capone were at work gaming the system, this phrase wasn’t a joke. It was a best practice. If you want guaranteed results, wh...
