Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Washington DC Orthodontist Publishes Orthodontic Treatment Goals
Dr. Wayne Hickory Writes a Chapter for Cosmesis of the Mouth, Face and Jaws

WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 01/17/13 -- As one of the first orthodontists in the entire country to use the innovative treatment Invisalign®, Dr. Wayne B. Hickory, a Washington DC orthodontist, is well-qualified to contribute to one of the newest textbooks on facial aesthetics. The textbook, published by Wiley-Blackwell, strives to portray a holistic approach to facial treatments from medical to dental.

Writing a chapter for a medical and dental textbook is in alignment with Dr. Hickory's commitment to education. He serves as an instructor of Invisalign® certification courses for fellow orthodontists and attends conferences to remain up-to-date in the field.

Dr. Hickory's latest contribution to orthodontic education is a chapter for a new textbook on facial aesthetics for dentists, physicians and patients. He has co-authored a chapter titled Aesthetic Decisions in Adult Orthodontics in the recently published book: Cosmesis of the Mouth, Face and Jaws. This textbook brings together specialists from nine medical and dental specialties and aims to develop a synergistic view of facial aesthetics.

The chapter by Dr. Hickory and his co-author Dr. Rohit Sachdeva reviews a systematic decision process that creates treatment objectives for optimal cosmetic results. The chapter highlights how new digital technology -- including Invisalign® and SureSmile™ -- facilitate the process of creating aesthetic orthodontic treatment goals.

The goals of Dr. Hickory's own private practice extend beyond the cosmetic, as an aesthetically pleasing smile includes benefits such as:

  • A widely-recognized boost of self-confidence
  • A better first impression in social and business relationships
  • Substantial health benefits

Before opening his Washington DC orthodontics practice, Dr. Hickory was heavily involved in orthodontic research and taught as a full-time faculty member of the Orthodontic Department at the University of Amsterdam and the University of Maryland. He continues to offer orthodontic courses internationally and hosts doctors from Europe and Asia for advanced courses. He carries this excitement for education into his publishing endeavors.

About Wayne B. Hickory, DMD, MDS
Dr. Wayne Hickory has served as one of the original members of the Alpha Group and Speakers Bureau of Align Technology. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Hickory is extensively trained in several areas, including pediatric dentistry and child orthodontics. He remains the largest user of Invisalign® in the world and works to educate fellow orthodontists on Invisalign® practices. Dr. Hickory is available for interview upon request.
