Chile’s Ministry of Education to Integrate Vitamina Web-Based Instruction from Adaptive Curriculum into Online Education Portal

Beginning this year, middle and high school students across Chile will be able to take advantage of high-quality math and science content to extend classroom learning beyond the school day and deepen their understanding of core concepts and skills. The Ministry of Education has chosen to add Adaptive Curriculum’s Vitamina, a Spanish instructional solution developed specifically for Latin America, to YoEstudio, a free, content-based portal for Chilean students in grades 1-12.

Arizona-based Adaptive Curriculum and Aulanova, a division of Videocorp., a leader in the audiovisual market in Latin America, have partnered with the Chilean Ministry of Education to integrate 200 instructional units, called Activity Objects, from Vitamina into the portal for the next three years. The Vitamina concept mastery solution for math and science will be available to teachers and students for use at school, at home, or anywhere with an Internet connection.

“In Chile, like in the United States, many students struggle with math and science because they don’t understand the concepts that underlie these sometimes complicated subjects. Vitamina strengthens math and science performance by helping students build a deep understanding of core concepts and skills,” said Jim Bowler, CEO of Adaptive Curriculum. “Adaptive Curriculum is an international leader in the field of interactive math and science learning because our solutions are informed by the latest research, pedagogy and best practices. We’re pleased to make our award-winning content available through the YoEstudio portal to engage Chilean students in active learning and to emphasize real-world connections to make difficult concepts easier to understand.”

Designed for grades 6-12, Vitamina engages digital-age learners by integrating real-world scenarios, cutting-edge graphics and interactive simulations into active, standards-based learning. Unlike textbooks or drill-and-practice programs, Vitamina’s active learning approach motivates learners to explore, make hypotheses, manipulate items and see the impact of their decisions, thereby developing and deepening their understanding.

About Adaptive Curriculum

Designed for grades 6-12, Adaptive Curriculum’s web-based math and science solutions are used by more than 3 million students in the United States, Europe and Asia. Across the world, experts in math, science and online learning theory contribute to the content and design of the interactive activities to deliver effective instruction that improves performance on high-stakes tests and enhances college and career readiness.

Earlier, I wrote a bit about traffic and the IoT. It's a big topic. The traffic problems of the developed and developing worlds seem so large, complex, and intractable to significant change in any reasonable timeframe. Consider Mexico City. There are more than 20 million people in ...
More and more Web sites and applications are being moved from Apache to nginx. While Apache is still the number one HTTP server with more than 60% on active Web sites, nginx has now taken over the 2nd place in the ranking and relegated Microsoft’s IIS to 3rd place. Among the top 10.000...
Getting one's arms around the Internet of Things is a daunting task. In addition to big IoT commitments from all of the big players in computing and telco, there are a number of smaller companies and startups working on devices and services to enable the future of enterprise IT and per...
Let me think lemme think. Do I date myself unnecessarily by making a “Gaslight” reference? You know, the 1944 film with Ingrid Bergman and several other great actors in which the remote, seeming random dimming of a house's gaslights were part of a plot to convince Ingrid's character sh...
