Hyland Software President and CEO, A.J. Hyland, Announces Retirement
After nearly 20 years with the organization, and 16 years in executive leadership, A.J. Hyland plans to focus on family and philanthropic endeavors

CLEVELAND, Jan. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyland Software today announced the retirement of A.J. Hyland, president and CEO of Hyland Software, and the promotion of Bill Priemer as Hyland's new CEO.  A.J. Hyland will continue to hold his position on the Board of Directors for Hyland Software and as a shareholder in the company.  Over the past six months, A.J. Hyland has developed and executed on a strategic transition plan with Priemer and other executives in the organization to ensure a smooth changeover of leadership.

"Working at Hyland Software for nearly 20 years has been more than a blessing; it's been an honor," said A.J. Hyland. "It's been a privilege to serve alongside such a passionate group of employees, partners and customers."

Retirement will give A.J. Hyland the opportunity to spend more time with his family, focus on additional philanthropic causes, and take on new challenges, such as coaching and teaching the next generation of leaders. "This decision didn't come easily and without a lot reflection, counsel and planning," said A.J. Hyland. "I have an incredible peace with this choice and I am confident this the right time for me, my family and Hyland Software."

Bill Priemer, currently COO at Hyland Software, will make the transition to CEO on Monday, January 14. Priemer's appointment comes after more than six months of transition planning and execution and a unanimous vote from Hyland Software's Board of Directors.

Priemer has more than 15 years of executive experience at Hyland Software, working closely with A.J. Hyland and other executives to drive the successful growth and delivery of all client and partner-facing initiatives. His senior-level leadership will create a smooth transition for Hyland's partner and customer bases.

"We thank A.J. for his strong leadership and contributions in building a world-class company," said Orlando Bravo, managing partner at Thoma Bravo, LLC, Hyland Software's private equity investment partner. "We believe Bill shares those attributes, and we look forward to Hyland's continued success under his direction as CEO."

"The success Hyland Software achieved under A.J. Hyland's leadership is a feat rarely accomplished," said Priemer. "Through his principled decision-making, competitive drive and charismatic leadership style, Hyland Software has grown to become a recognized name in the software industry and a leading provider of ECM."

Priemer says he plans to maintain the company's focus on developing innovative products, expanding into new markets and providing superior customer service. "I'm excited to continue the momentum A.J. has created and help lead Hyland Software through this next chapter," Priemer said.
