The Woman's Hospital of Texas Welcomes Its Record-Breaking Baby Number 10,000

HOUSTON, Dec. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time in The Woman's Hospital of Texas history, the hospital delivered 10,000 babies in one year.  Becky and Chris Kiser welcomed their daughter Moriah into the world at 1:08 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 28. Moriah weighs seven pounds, six ounces and is 20.25 inches long.

The Kisers are from Houston. Little Moriah's big sister, Karis, was also born at The Woman's Hospital of Texas.

"We have been tracking the birth of the 10,000th baby for a couple of months and can't believe it's our baby," Becky Kiser said. "We love The Woman's Hospital of Texas."

Baby Moriah was delivered by Dr. Mark Cone, a physician with Obstetrical and Gynecological Associates (OGA). Cone has a long-standing history with the Woman's Hospital of Texas.

The hospital delivers more babies than any other hospital in Houston, and delivers the second highest number of babies in Texas.

"We are honored that more Houstonians have chosen us—year after year—to help welcome their children into the world and be part of memories that will last a lifetime," said Linda Russell, CEO of The Woman's Hospital of Texas. "Our Baby-Number-10,000 milestone is a testament to the enduring trust the physicians and employees of Woman's have earned from families for more than 35 years."

The Kiser family will be presented with a bassinette from Doodles Baby Gifts and More filled with a full supply of haute baby items as well as special gifts just for Mom. There will also be adorable mommy/baby contributions from  The Woman's Hospital of Texas' shops including Walgreens at 7400 & Walgreens at 7900 Fannin, Nine Maternity, The Stork Club, and Lori's Gift Shops. In addition, OGA Aesthetic & Laser Center, Bella Mademoiselle Pedi Spa, Toys "R" Us and Rodan + Fields also contributed gifts. Bellababies Portrait Boutique will provide the baby's first custom portraits.

Plus, as a way to help celebrate the babies born at The Woman's Hospital of Texas, Facebook fans continue to enter the Babies Are Beautiful  contest. Just go to The Woman's Hospital Facebook Page and click on the Babies Are Beautiful baby board for your chance to win.

As the hospital neared its 10,000th baby milestone, visitors, patients and guests were able to get real-time delivery information on digital screens posted at the West and East Tower Entrances, the Cafe, and in the Labor and Delivery Units.  The hospital's Facebook Page and Twitter also kept real time tickers along with The Woman's Hospital Website .
