DALLAS, Dec. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Trinity Hunt Partners ("Trinity Hunt"), a leading private equity firm, today announced the completion of a merger of ShowPlex Cinemas, a company controlled by Trinity Hunt, with Starplex Cinemas, a national motion picture exhibitor headquartered in Dallas, Texas.  The merger will create a top-12 theatre chain with 32 locations and over 320 screens with operations in 12 states across the United States.

A Trinity Hunt Fund III portfolio company, ShowPlex currently operates 10 theatres and over 90 screens in Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Nebraska.  Starplex currently operates 22 theatres and over 230 screens throughout the United States.

Trinity Hunt will remain a significant shareholder and be represented on the merged company's board of directors.

Starplex's management team, led by Steve Holmes, an industry veteran and former Chief Financial Officer of Cinemark and Chief Executive Officer of Silver Cinemas, will assume responsibility for day-to-day management of ShowPlex's theatres. "The addition of ShowPlex's quality assets will complement Starplex's growing domestic footprint, including the expansion of our presence in the Midwest market," stated Mr. Holmes.
