Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

RogueDZN: "DAISYCUTTER" Redefines Wearable Kinetic Sculpture with a Quad-blade Micro Turbine
The RogueDZN DAISYCUTTER is a set of 9-axis machined, fully functioning, fifteen-fin, quad micro turbines, 12mm in diameter, captured within 1 inch of space, spinning on four sets of micro precision bearings, screaming at over 10,000rpm in the palm of you

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The RogueDZN DAISYCUTTER redefines wearable, kinetic sculpture. The DAISYCUTTER pendant replaces noble metals and precious gems with cutting edge technology and state of the art industrial design, meticulously blending compound, aerodynamic curvatures that challenge the perception of value in our modern society.

The DAISYCUTTER is a fully functioning, quad-blade micro Turbine assembly. The study of complex airflow analysis inspires intricate form and sculpted surfacing that highlights the machining process as an elegant and robust art form of its own. Using 5-9axis machining and custom-made cutting tools, the four micro turbine blades are gracefully carved from G5 Military Spec aerospace-grade titanium, each one of the 15 turbine fins designed and engineered as lifting bodies to allow for accelerated airflow.

As air funnels through the rear-intake, the turbines can accelerate to over 10,000 rpm, emitting the high frequency scream you'd expect from an operational turbine. All encased within one inch, the assembly provides a direct insight into the inner-workings of aviation and micro kinetic movement. The DAISYCUTTER is offered with a choice of either custom metal or a leather necklace.

The DAISYCUTTER has a Suicide Number of twenty, meaning that only twenty assemblies will be made before discontinuation. Each pendant will be serial numbered RDZN1/20 - RDZN20/20.

TECH SPECS:
MATERIALS: Compressed carbon fiber block, military-spec G5 aerospace-grade titanium
PROCESSES: 5-9-axis machined, billet titanium block, Laser etching
FINISHES: Zero hand finishing or post processes/ Calculated machined tool-paths
DIMENSIONS: Barrel Diameter: 16mm (.62"), Length Tip-to-tail: 73mm (2.87"),
PRICE: TBD

About the RogueDZN process:

The materials used by RogueDZN do not lie. They are not cast or plated. They are not specific to any trend. They are raw and superior. Designed with the same software used to create The US military's F22 Joint Strike Fighter, every millimeter of every curve is obsessively perfected in 3D space, a feat impossible to achieve by hand. Due to subtle harmonics in the tedious machining process, each RogueDZN piece has its own unique fingerprint.
