Parallocity Licenses Zeus Virtual Machine® Dynamic Analysis Framework to H3C Technologies

Parallocity, provider of the Zeus Virtual Machine® (ZVM) Dynamic Analysis Framework for automated defect detection and code analytics, today announced that H3C Technologies Co., Limited (H3C), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HPQ), has licensed Parallocity’s ZVM-U runtime error detection tool with integrated analytics for user space applications.

With ZVM-U we can continuously improve the quality of our software while reducing the time and cost associated with finding and fixing hard-to-detect errors which are inevitable in complex applications.”

Parallocity’s ZVM Framework forms the core of ZVM-U, an automated tool that finds defects in applications as they execute. While traditional dynamic analysis tools have limited support for CPUs beyond the Intel x86 architecture, ZVM-U is processor agnostic, running on any CPU including x86, ARM, MIPS, and PowerPC. This has made ZVM-U popular among telecommunications, storage, semiconductor, security, and networking companies like H3C whose products employ a wide range of CPUs from multiple vendors.

“With every CPU vendor shifting to multi-core processors, software developers are writing more multi-threaded applications to take advantage of the performance gains offered by parallel processing. But multi-threaded code is notoriously difficult to debug because of the elusive nature of concurrency, or timing, errors like data races,” stated Himanshu Shukla, CTO of Parallocity. “ZVM-U represents a breakthrough in the area of dynamic analysis because it is thread schedule agnostic and timing independent. This enables ZVM-U to detect actual and potential data races, deadlocks, and stalls in a single-pass regression test.”
