Me having experience dealing with cloud based tech and consulting and integration services, I realize the need for a secure and consistant cloud service. Many people are concerned with the privacy, or lack thereof, that could occur with storing personal documents into a non-physical storage unit. I can see, though with companies such as ours and Metacloud, we are working toward a more secure and easy to use cloud system for both personal and professional use. Spursh Parikh www.sererra.com

Arista Broadens Cloud Networking Solutions for the Data Center

Arista Networks today announced an addition to its 7050 Series, providing customers with another option for migrating data centers to 10GbE driven by growth in big data and virtualization. The Arista 7050T-36 is the newest addition to the industry’s lowest power and most flexible series of purpose built 10GBASE-T switches, designed to accelerate customer migration to 10GbE.

“The Arista 7050T Series switches give Brinkster the ability to maintain high levels of energy efficiency while avoiding the higher cost of SFP+, the ease of using standard Cat6a cable versus twinax, and the flexibility to utilize 1G and 10G in the same switch,” said Nathaniel Kemberling, CTO, Brinkster Communications Corporation.

Consolidating servers from multiple connections of 1G to 10GBASE-T simplifies migration using low cost structured cabling, increased distances over short reach twinax copper cables and more flexible deployment options. Furthermore, the Arista 7050T Series removes power consumption as a barrier for adoption, with the lowest draw in the industry at five watts per port.

“The key elements for widespread customer adoption of 10GBASE-T are low price, power efficiency and high density. The price points of 10GBASE-T are now nearing data center class 1GbE switches which make future proofing all the more compelling for customers,” said Anshul Sadana senior vice president, Customer Engineering for Arista Networks.

The Arista 7050T-36 rounds out the Arista portfolio of fixed 10Gb Ethernet switches. In addition to industry leading power efficiency and port density, the Arista 7050 Series 1/10GBASE-T data center switches offer wire speed performance with a choice of 36, 52 or 64 ports of 10GbE. As with all Arista switches, Arista EOS (extensible operating system), simplifies network administration with advanced monitoring and automation capabilities lowering both CapEx and OpEx.

The Arista 7050T-36 switch includes 32 ports with auto-negotiating 100Mb/1GbE/10GbE ports based on standard RJ45 interfaces and 4 10GbE SFP+ ports. This enables customers to deploy scalable, leaf-spine cloud networks while preserving their initial investment and minimizing intrusive upgrades.

Pricing and Availability

The Arista 7050 Series 10GBASE-T switches are available now in 36, 52 and 64 port versions. Prices start at $300 per port.
