I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

IEA Awarded Department of State (DoS) Network Operations and Management Branch's Information Technology (NOMBIT) Support Services Contract

ASHBURN, Va., Nov. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Ian, Evan & Alexander Corporation (IEA) announces its award of the U.S. Department of State (DoS), Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) Network Operations and Management Branch's Information Technology (NOMBIT) Support Services contract. The services provided under this contract include systems engineering, network/LAN operations and maintenance, server and database administration, service desk support, asset management, and program management for the bureau's classified and unclassified communications networks and systems. IEA will collaborate with the Network Operations and Management Branch to leverage "light" technologies and shared solutions while maintaining continuity and preserving its existing IT investments.

This contract, awarded under our GSA MOBIS schedule (GS-10-F-0450-P), is a labor hour contract with fixed labor rates. With all options exercised, this is a 5-year, $10.4 million contract. IEA serves as the Prime Contractor with Nelson Enterprise Technology Services (NETS) and Intercom Federal Systems (Intercom) as major subcontractors.

IEA has supported the DoS for three years under its Professional, Technical, Administrative, and Program Support Services (PTAPSS) contract and currently staffs more than 35 DoS employees. With this demonstrated experience and its ongoing strategic relationships with both NETS and Intercom, IEA is well positioned for immediate program success under the NOMBIT contract.

"The Department of State has long been our largest customer under the PTAPSS contract," said John E. Cochran, President and CEO. "Using this program to fully support the information technology within OBO is exciting, and we are looking forward to the program. Having worked with NETS and Intercom in the past, we know our teammates capabilities and are equally excited about their participation as our subcontractors."

IEA is a Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned (SDVO) small business that specializes in the areas of program management, IT and technical support services, and professional staffing. It holds several valuable contract vehicles and an award-winning track record.
