Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

FUJIFILM Continues To Build 3D Digital Roadmap To Woman's Imaging
Technology innovations, clinical trials, innovation awards: all part of our mammography portfolio

CHICAGO, Nov. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- (Booth #8316)—FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A. Inc., which received the '2012 Global X-Ray Mammography Technology Award' from Frost & Sullivan this fall, continues to grow its reputation and leadership role in woman's health with 3D breast imaging technology that provides a direct visual representation of the volumetric structure of the breast. Visitors to the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) will have a chance to see products and have discussions with representatives of the medical imaging and informatics company.

"The early and accurate detection of breast cancer involves technologies that are still evolving. Certainly one of the most promising advancements is 3D digital mammography*, and that's where Fujifilm is concentrating much of its effort," says David Hotchkiss, Director of Marketing, Women's Health. "Think of the increase in diagnostic confidence radiologists will have when 3D digital breast imaging is commonplace. It has the potential to significantly improve the accuracy of breast cancer screening while also reducing the screening recall rates. That's what our recognition by Frost & Sullivan clearly suggests."

Fujifilm's 3D digital solution is undergoing clinical trials at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth Wende Breast Care in Rochester, NY, and Scottsdale Medical Imaging Ltd. in Scottsdale, AZ. Early results are very encouraging. In addition, 3D digital mammography is CE marked and MDD approved in EU and is already installed around the world in 10 countries.

While the 3D digital mammography trials and even more advanced R&D are conducted, Fujifilm continues its leadership in Full Field Digital Mammography (FFDM) solutions, built on the legacy of more than 70 years of imaging research and development.

*3D digital mammography is a work in progress and is not yet available for sale in the U.S.

Aspire HD plus

The Aspire HD plus, designed for both routine and stereotactic biopsy exams, has the most advanced mammography imaging detector at its core, representing Fujifilm's greatest innovation in the field to date.

Our patented Direct Optical Switching (DOS) technology combines exceptional image sharpness and DQE with faster exposure cycles than any other direct capture technology. By delivering both 50 micrometer fine pixel size and low noise, the system provides superb image quality that enhances visualization of breast tissue and greater details of breast abnormalities. Improved quality means a more confident diagnosis in less time.

The Aspire HD plus provides higher throughput and lower doses than previous CR versions, and those advancements are what technologists—and patients— require for effective breast imaging. Additionally, the Aspire HD plus offers patients increased comfort during their exams due to Fujifilm's advanced ergonomic design.

For more information on Fujifilm's entire product portfolio, including DR systems, Synapse PACS and RIS, women's health solutions and more, please visit booth #8316 at RSNA, which runs through November 30 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
