I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

World's Biggest Graphite Mine Builder, Jean Depatie, Appointed Chairman of Alabama Graphite Corp.

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/22/12 -- Alabama Graphite Corp. (the "Company") (CNSX:ALP)(FRANKFURT:1AG) (WKN A1J35M) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jean Depatie, B.Sc., M.Sc., as Chairman of the Company. Mr. Depatie has a long and distinguished career in the mining industry, most recently as a director of Consolidated Thompson Iron Mines Ltd until its sale to Cliffs Natural Resources in 2011 for $4.9 billion. Previously, Mr. Depatie served as a director of Glamis Gold Ltd. until its takeover by Goldcorp for $8.6B in 2006. Mr. Depatie was also Senior Advisor and a founder of Paramount Gold and Silver Corp. (NYSE:PZG) and a director of Novicourt Mines (now Xstrata).

Mining veteran Mr. Depatie commented, "Based on a field visit to the Coosa Graphite Project, I see potential for a significant large flake graphite deposit capable of serving both the international and US domestic demand in this growing market. I am very excited to join the company and assist in the development of this great project, in a region that has seen graphite production before."

Mr. Depatie is an economic geologist with a BA in math and physics, and holds both Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Geology. Mr Depatie has also been involved in numerous other successful mining ventures including Sulliden Gold Corporation, Richmont Mines, Stratmin Mines, Cambiex Explorations and Louvern Mines. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Colt Resources and Rio Moche Explorations and director of Champion Minerals.

Most notably, Jean put the world's largest graphite mine into production, the Lac-des-Iles Graphite Mine in Quebec (later Stratmin), and for this feat, in 1990, won the Prix d'Excellence awarded by the Government of Quebec. In 1991, Stratmin was anointed as one of the three best Quebec companies for international development.

CEO, Daniel Spine comments, "It was a delight to have Jean on our site this week. His detailed knowledge of developing Lac des Isles and stewarding it into a fully producing graphite operation is the book nobody could ever find. Jean knows more about what we need to do than probably any person alive today. It is my pleasure to welcome him to our board and I look forward to working very closely with him."

Adrian Robertson has vacated his board of directors seat to make way for Mr. Depatie's appointment and will remain a consultant to the Company.
