I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Mom Trusted Announces 3 Winners of $1000 Preschool/Child Care Scholarship

MENLO PARK, Calif., Nov. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Mom Trusted, an online community bringing together parents with childcare providers and preschools, announced the winners of its Preschool/Child Care Scholarship Contest. The winners will each receive a $1000 scholarship for use toward childcare or preschool expenses.

"At Mom Trusted we know how important it is for parents to find caregivers they can trust," said Angela Conley, Co-founder and President at Mom Trusted. "We also know these days it can be hard to find the most excellent care at the most affordable cost. We are so thrilled to be able to help these three winners not only find the best care providers for their children, but also help them cover those costs".

The winners of the Mom Trusted 2012 Preschool/Child Care Scholarship are:

  • Megan Stanton of San Mateo, Calif. Megan is a working mom of two kids, ages 8 and 6, who will use her winnings to help with the costs of keeping her kids in after-school care at Highlands Recreation Center.

"Thank you so much!" said Stanton. "I rarely win anything and this is the largest prize I've ever won. The high cost of child care for two boys, in addition to living in the Bay Area, means that both my husband and I have to work. This scholarship will help ease our budget this month and is greatly appreciated. Momtrusted.com provides a valuable service connecting me to recommended providers in my area and I love their Facebook craft posts!"

  • Lisa Klugh of Irwin, Penn. Lisa is a schoolteacher and mom of two, 11 months and 4 years, who knows firsthand about juggling the need for a great program for her kids with the high costs.

"We're so excited to have won this; it will help us right before Christmas!  Our children mean the world to us and having a wonderful education is the greatest gift we can give them!" said Klugh.

  • Raquel Rudder of Lakeside, Calif. Lisa is a mom of two who knows all about the difficulties of finding quality, affordable care.

Like the other winners, Raquel is grateful for the help. "It is so difficult to find a preschool who will take my son," said Rudder. "Either it is too expensive or only very low income people can qualify. I am forced to go outside of my community and in turn, spend money on gas to drive back and forth just so that my child can get a good preschool experience." She will use her Mom Trusted scholarship at Early Advantage Preschool & Wrap Around Care.
