I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

SUBWAY® Restaurants Launches National Program Honoring Veterans
Sandwich Chain Teams Up with Wounded Warrior Project®

MILFORD, Conn., Nov. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- SUBWAY® Restaurants, the world's largest restaurant chain, will partner with Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors, and support its vision to foster the most successful and well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history.

Jared "The SUBWAY Guy" Fogle will visit Naval Support Activity Bethesda, home of the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, on Saturday, November 10 as the chain launches a national program honoring veterans through a partnership with WWP.  As part of this collaboration, the brand will showcase inspiring stories from WWP Alumni who have overcome major hurdles upon returning from war on its website as well as on Facebook.com/Subway.  Additionally, SUBWAY® Restaurants will make a donation of $111,112 to WWP to help fund programs such as those focused on Economic Empowerment.

"Teaming up with Wounded Warrior Project lets us say 'thank you' to the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country," said Jeff Larson, Vice President of Global Marketing, Marketing Development and Activation at SUBWAY® restaurants. "We have over 300 locations serving U.S. military bases around the world as well as many franchisees who are also veterans in our system, each trying to make a difference in their communities.  We want to recognize this important part of our Subway family throughout the year."

The program will also launch an online campaign to encourage SUBWAY® fans to recognize veterans. Video content featuring WWP Alumni and its mission will go live on SUBWAY.com, and SUBWAY® will encourage over 800,000 followers of its @Subway Twitter handle to join in the conversation using #SUBWAYSalutes hashtag.   As added encouragement to engage in the conversation, fans using the hashtag will be given the chance to win SUBWAY® gift cards throughout Veterans Day weekend.

Additionally, the brand has a special program for enterprising military veterans designed to reduce the costs associated with the purchase of a Subway franchise.  The franchise fee of $15,000 is waived for any honorably discharged veteran who wishes to open a Subway restaurant on a government or military installation.  Similarly, if a veteran wishes to open a Subway restaurant  at any non-military or non-government locations, they can get the franchise fees reduced by 50 percent.
