Habitat for Humanity to host Twitter party focused on building vibrant communities

ATLANTA, Nov. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --

Every year, President and Mrs. Carter give a week of their time to help build, renovate or repair homes and raise awareness about the need for affordable and decent housing. Last year, the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project led an effort in Haiti to build 155 homes in Leogane in partnership with families left homeless by the 7.0-magnitude earthquake in 2010. This November, the Carters return with more than 600 volunteers to build 100 additional homes.

In anticipation of the this year's build, Habitat will host a Twitter party to discuss what it takes to get a community back on its feet after disasters such as the earthquake in Haiti.

How to attend:

2.   Follow host  @Habitat_org

3.   Use  #HabitatinHaiti to join the conversation leading up to and during the Twitter party

The event will be moderated by Jennifer James (@socialgoodmoms), founder of Mom Bloggers for Social Good, a global coalition of more than 1,000 mom bloggers who care about pressing global issues. Hosted by Habitat for Humanity International (@Habitat_org), several representatives from the organization, including Habitat Haiti (@HabitatInHaiti) also will be available to discuss Habitat's earthquake recovery initiatives in Haiti, what it takes to build and strengthen a community, and how people can help in their communities.
