SANTA CLARA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/05/12 -- Paul Cianci, Vice President of Operations at mobile broadband developer Stoke, Inc., will speak at the Decision Sciences Institute's annual conference in San Francisco in a panel entitled 'Reshoring and Third Generation Manufacturing in North America,' highlighting the emerging U.S. 'reshoring' phenomenon -- the return of manufacturing previously located or sourced to other continents. The conference takes place from November 17 - 20 at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis Hotel. "Working with U.S. manufacturing providers is an increasingly viable solution for companies serving audiences where time to market and quality control are paramount," said Cianci. "For this reason Stoke sources the majority of components and undertakes product assembly in its entirety in the U.S. By the end of 2011 we will have used over 12 million components in the assembly of our products -- and an increasing number of them are from American and local suppliers. It's gratifying to see American-built products creating a ripple effect in domestic employment." Cianci cites ease of communication and access, faster remediation of issues, improved flexibility and quality control, optimized supply chains, transport costs and, on a broader level, manufacturing partners' closer alignment with companies' business and operational goals as key factors influencing the reshoring trend. "Reshoring also gives companies an opportunity to be more proactive in improving the environmental impact of their manufacturing processes," added Cianci. "Stoke has been able to expand its Lean Manufacturing efforts adding an ecological element to our supplier grading system." Working closely with its supplier partners on elements ranging from logistics, advanced product design, efficient materials use, improved recycling, and green chemistry, Stoke aims to influence substantial reductions in waste generation and energy usage.
